The best inventions solve an everyday problem, and boy, did a fabulous invention come my way this month. The Wishbone is a simple accessory that instantly separates static-y layers on stubborn, hard-to-open plastic bags.
If you walk your dog regularly, you’ve been in this vulnerable position where your dog has just pooped and you now have to pick it up – but the slippery plastic poop bag just won’t open.
Yes, it’s a first-world problem, but when something comes along that can make your life just a little bit easier, jump on it. You’d be surprised at how much cumulative stress you save yourself by solving simple problems.
The Wishbone is a simple silicone grip that disrupts that static cling and separates the thin layers of plastic without a fuss.

Does It Really Work?
I wondered if I would naturally start to use the Wishbone, or if it would become inconvenient to grab it in the midst of fumbling with the bag.
Now that I’ve had it for about two weeks, using it has become ingrained in my muscle memory. It just WORKS.
I even use it at the grocery store when I’m bagging up my produce.
For me, the best place to attach it was on the strap of my phone-wallet case. I love that it’s bright yellow, so it’s impossible to lose. Since it’s made of silicone, it’s lightweight and won’t get scratched or break even though I’m dragging it around all day.
This quick little demo video is about ten seconds long, but it normally takes about half a second to use the Wishbone to get a bag open.
Under normal circumstances, or when I’m not multi-tasking as I take a video, using the Wishbone is more like a quick flick of the wrist. BAM, bag is open and I’m ready to snatch up a steaming turd.
Who Is This For?
I’m planning to buy a couple of Wishbones to have on-hand for holiday presents and stocking-stuffers.
They’re perfect for dog parents who take their dogs on daily walks, but even people who don’t have dogs would love them for grocery shopping. They’re perfect for opening produce bags.
Anyone who loses their keys often will appreciate the bright yellow accessory – it stands out, but it’s lightweight so it’s not going to add bulk to whatever you attach it to.
Mine is clipped to the strap of my phone case wallet. If you just plan to use it on walks, you can clip it to your leash handle.

How I’d Improve This Product
I can’t think of any way I could improve on this perfect simple design. I’d love to see how far it goes. Maybe we’ll start to see it in stores, in different colors, bundled with leashes and other doggy gear… who knows? In the meantime, we can brag that we knew about it before everyone else did.
How Can I Get One?
The Wishbone is up on Amazon for just a few bucks, perfect for throwing into your next order.
If you don’t mind waiting, you can enter for a chance to win a FREE Wishbone. The inventor of Wishbone has generously offered to giveaway TEN of them so that’s 10 chances to win.

Great idea!
I always use these when I walk my dogs.
Great idea! I could really use this as I have arthritis in my hands and have a big issue with opening poo bags and produce bags.
Love this! lol I feel like I’m the only one seriously struggling with getting the produce bags open at the store.
Looks like a great invention. It’s all the simple invention that go far. It seems like it could be used for lots of things when there’s a static cling issue. Thanks for sharing!
That’s a great idea. Sometimes I spend way to much time trying to get a plastic bag pen lol
This is such a fun idea. My partner is hopeless opening plastic bags! Whoever did this was inspired!
Such a great idea! It really is the simplest products that are the winners. You have to wonder sometimes “why did it take humanity this long to come up with this?” Like you, I would use Wishbone at the grocery store too. Those bags are little devils to open!
I think this is wonderful. What a simple invention that works wonders.
That’s quite a genius little gadget, isn’t it? I imagine it could work for other stubborn bags.
Probably would be good to have one.
Such a fun ideal
I think this is a genius product!!! I would definitely use it when walking my dog AND at the grocery store!

Wow. Awesome
A great product that I would love to use.
Great idea …..those produce bags produce lots of annoyance lol
Great idea for spreading apart those pesky plastic bags. I always have problems with the plastic bags at the produce stands or the “to go” bags. Maybe I need one with my arthritis!
We walk our dogs every day so this would come in handy. Great invention.
This is amazing I have shared about it with my pet owner friends
It’s funny how the littlest things can really make such a big difference, isn’t it? I haven’t tried this product (although I’m SUPER intrigued) but recently a friend sent me those dog poop bag holders that hold the bags after you’ve used them. While that sounds like something silly or over the top at first, it can make a huge difference when you have 3 dogs! When I was walking 1 dog, I generally had a free hand to carry bags. Now, that free hand is gone lol

simple, useful, & it works
I’ve been searching for something to open those horrible bags – and, at last, here it is, like a miracle. I’m even going to try this with those plastic produce bags in supermarkets – I’m sure it’ll be the answer to my prayers. Thanks a lot for letting us know.
NICE!!!
Thank You! This is a Great Idea!

Curious to see whether it really does work, if it does work- it’s a genius idea!
I think its a great product. Why didn’t I think of that?
